Transgender person shot dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR   -   A transgender person was shot dead in the provincial capital on Friday.


According to the police, Mano (Nasir) was shot dead in the precinct of Khan Raziq police station.


The police quoted another transgender person as saying that one Sana Ullah fired at her friend, who succumbed to the wounds. They said they had lodged an FIR against the killer.


They said the accused had been friends with the deceased for a long time.


Two arrested in Mardan: Meanwhile, police in Mardan district Friday claimed to have arrested two killers of a transgender person.


A police spokesman said that Iqbal, alias Chand, and Mahboob, alias Zamarud, had been shot, and later Chand succumbed to injuries. The Mardan police arrested the culprits who confessed to have killed one and injured another transgender person, and the arrestees also handed over the weapons of offence to the police. Incidents of violence against the transgender persons have registered an increase recently. Earlier, five transgender persons were shot injured in Mansehra district a few days ago.
