LAHORE - Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari on Sunday launched a scathing critique of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, accusing it of gross mismanagement and corruption in its much-touted solar panel project, which she claims has been engulfed by a “commission mafia” and marred by a lack of transparency. In a strongly worded statement, Bokhari said the project, announced by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur eight months ago, has reportedly fallen victim to corruption worth Rs. 2 billion even before execution began. “Tenders were floated before the PC-1 was even approved — a clear violation of procedural norms,” she stated. The Information Minister alleged that public welfare projects in KP either remain incomplete or are derailed by internal rifts and vested interests. “This is not governance — it’s chaos,” she said. “The entire performance of the KP government is limited to fiery press conferences and hollow political slogans.” Bokhari criticized the provincial leadership for diverting public funds toward protest campaigns and awarding contracts to preferred contractors, instead of prioritizing the welfare of the people. “While the people of KP await basic facilities, their money is being used to fuel political theatrics,” she said. She further remarked that slogans like Tabdeeli (change) and Tsunami have become cruel jokes in the eyes of the public. “These promises have caused nothing but irreparable damage to the province’s governance and credibility,” she added. Taking direct aim at Gandapur, she said, “His political record is limited to three failed assaults on the federal government and Punjab. Beyond that, there is nothing to show for his leadership.” Bokhari called on the federal government to initiate a comprehensive audit of all funds disbursed to the KP government. “Until there is full accountability of past expenditures, not a single rupee more should be released,” she demanded.
