SBP lauds Pakistan’s pioneering role in PD Cricket

LAHORE  -  The remarkable international performances of Pakistan’s national physically disabled (PD) cricketers have earned high praise, with Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, Jameel Ahmad, commending their efforts and pledging full support at all institutional levels. During a high-level meeting held at State Bank headquarters, Governor Jameel Ahmad met with a two-member delegation of Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association (PPDCA), comprising senior officials Imran Balwani and Shakeel Sharif. The delegation provided a comprehensive briefing on the PPDCA’s contributions, including support from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), participation in international tournaments, recent overseas tours, involvement in the Asia Cup, and preparations for the upcoming national championship scheduled for next month. Governor Jameel Ahmad praised the PD cricketers’ exceptional representation of Pakistan on the global stage and highlighted the pride they bring to the country. He acknowledged Pakistan’s pioneering role as the founding nation of PD cricket, emphasizing that these athletes deserve the same respect, recognition, and facilities as mainstream cricketers. The PPDCA delegation presented a commemorative shield to Governor Jameel Ahmad in recognition of his encouragement and continued support for inclusive sports development.

“The commitment, resilience, and talent of our PD cricketers are truly commendable. It is a matter of great pride that Pakistan laid the foundation for this important and inclusive format of the game. As such, they must be afforded equal opportunities and privileges,” he said.

He further assured the delegation that the State Bank would extend its support to the PPDCA across all necessary platforms and urged other institutions to play their role in the promotion and development of disability cricket in Pakistan.
