Imran seeks power transfer through fair elections

PTI chief says snap polls crucial for country, ‘revolution’ knocking at door

ISLAMABAD    -    Former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan said on Sun­day that holding immediate elections was not just crucial for his party but for the entire country “as revolution is knocking at our door”.

In a meeting with the Punjab As­sembly members of his party at the Punjab House, the former premier said peaceful transition of power 

 should take place through free and transparent elec­tions. “The revolution should come through peaceful polls,” he was quoted as saying in the meeting. Imran said the peo­ple are with the PTI and em­phasised the need for holding immediate elections, adding, it was the need of the hour. He said a ‘soft revolution’ is around the corner so let snap polls embrace it, according to the party sources. During the meeting, he also congratulated the Punjab cabinet members on PTI’s thumping victory in the recently-held by-elections. Addressing the participants, Imran said that the success in the Punjab by-elections was an expression of public con­fidence in his party.
