Govt urged to save clerks from starvation

MULTAN - Office work in almost all government offices came to a complete halt as the members of All Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca) observed strike against price hike and comparatively low wages as well as non-acceptance of their charter of demand here on Thursday. Holding placards and banners inscribed with their demands, the clerks assembled outside their offices and shouted slogans against the government. They locked up all offices and went on a pen-drop strike.
Addressing the clerks outside Bosan Town Hall, Apca Multan President Khalid Javed Sanghera and others said that skyrocketing prices of edibles and other daily-use items crushed salaried class. “It has become almost impossible for the worker class to make both ends together in their existing salaries,” they added.
They said that their families were starved but they could not feed them due to their poverty. They demanded of the government to announce raise in their salaries in proportion with the price hike.

“Otherwise APCA will be forced to give a country-wide strike call,” they warned.
