LAHORE - Welcoming PML-Q leader Tariq Azeem into folds of the PML-N, Nawaz Sharif said Azeem was a politician of integrity and had a heart which felt for others.
Addressing a press conferecne organised in connection with Azeem’s decision to join PML-N, he said his association would give a huge benefit to the party, adding that Azeem was ready to resign as senator but he refrained from doing so and asked to wait for an appropriate moment. He said the PML-N’s doors were open to everyone who did not damage the party in league with former dictator Pervez Musharraf, adding that the PML-Q had a number of good people who never supported dictator Pervez Musharraf’s conspiracies against the PML-N.
“Certainly, the party will welcome these people if they desire to come back,” he added.
“Many of them have returned to the party and the names of those, who should not come back to the PM-(N, are ingrained in our memory and they will not enter the party,” he said alluding the Chaudhrys of Gujrat whom he charges for betraying him after Musharraf overthrew his govt on October 12, 1999.
Tariq Azeem praised the political role of Nawaz and said he was spearheading a party which always practiced politics on principles and thought above self-interests. He said PML-N was the genuine Muslim League whose leaders adhered to the norms of democracy, as he described Nawaz as a true leader.
Azeem said it was a deplorable fact that when the massacre had been going on in Gilgit-Baltistan, the chief minister was scoring political points at Garhi Khuda Bux.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Ch Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, and Information Secretary Mushahidullah Khan were also present on the occasion.
