WAZIRABAD - Dozens of female teachers of Basic Education Community Schools (BECS) of Gujranwala district who have not been paid salary for the past 10 months took out a rally and staged a protest in front of Social Welfare Office and AC Office here the other day. They raised slogans in favour of their demands.
The Basic Education Community Schools, a scheme of the federal government’s National Education Department, is imparting free education from Montessori to Grade 5. There are almost 73 Community School across the district.
Talking to the media men, the teachers said that they were facing hardships due to the non-payment of their salaries from 10 months. They presented a memorandum to AC Rao Sohail Akhtar, demanding payment of their salaries.
Later the rally participants dispersed peacefully.
