LAHORE - The last date for the submission of admission forms in the government colleges for admission in First Year classes has been over and the first merit list was displayed at a number of colleges on Thursday (today). The enrolment will begin from Friday (today) in the morning classes. The second merit list will be displayed on August 25. This year the merit is higher than the previous year and thousands of students may not be able to get admission in the morning classes despite opening of new colleges and the up-gradation of high schools into the higher secondary schools to conduct intermediate classes. The merit in Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical remains the highest despite the acceptance of job oriented commerce and IT education. The last year merit of FSc, Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical was above 882 and 875 respectively in GCU, FC College 800 and 772 despite the inflated fee at both these institutions as compared to the government colleges. The Lahore College for Women University will display the first merit list on Friday (today) and second on August 25. The LCWU merit in FSc Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical respectively is 974 and 950 marks, ICS (Physics) 861, ICS (Economics) 861, General Science 840, I.Com 830, Home Economics 784, and Arts 769. The last year merit at Government Islamia College Civil Lines was 728 and 667 respectively in the FSc, Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical while 693 and 648 at Government Science College Wahdat Road, 650 and 700 at Government College Township, 600 and 550 at Government Islamia College Railway Road, 602 and 550 at Government Model Degree College and 530 and 475 at Government Dyal Singh College which has sharply rise in 2010. The high merit can be judged from the first merit list 2010 at Government MAO College, which was 750 and 660 in Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical respectively while 700 in I.Com, 660 in ICS 600 in General Science and 550 in Arts. The merit in General Science and Inter Computer Science (ICS Physics) was 736 in GCU, 685 in FC College, 627 in Government Islamia College Civil Lines, 562 in Government Science College Wahdat Road, 600 in Government College Township, 400 in Government Islamia College Railway Road and 450 in Government Dyal Singh College. ICS (Stat) 600 at FC College, 627 at Government Islamia College Civil Lines, 562 at Government Science College, 600 at Government College Township, 400 at Government Islamia College Railway Road and 400 at Government Model Degree College. Even the merit in Arts was 720 at GCU, 470 at Islamia College, 402 at Science College 635 in I.Com at Government Science College, Wahdat Road and 550 at Government Dyal Singh College. The merit in the second shift was comparatively lower. Thousands of students will be admitted in the second shift where the tuition fee is higher than the morning shift.
