LAHORE A speeding car dashed into a police constable, injured him seriously, who was discharging his duty near Waris Road in Civil Lines police precincts on Sunday. Police investigators, however, believed the driver of the car later identified as Mian Sajid was under the influence of liquor. As per details, the constable Nasir Javed, personnel of Mohafiz Squad, was deputed at the aforesaid road when an uncontrolled car driven by Sajid collided with him as a result of which both of them suffered multiple wounds. Seconds after the incident took place a good number of police personnel of Mozang, Civil Lines and Women Race Course police stations reached the spot and shifted Javed and Sajid to the Services Hospital. Interestingly, the accused driver managed to flee from the hospital dodging the policemen, who had cordoned of the area. The condition of the victim was told critical till filing of this report. Later, police concerned after registering a case against the driver have arrested his two friends, who came to inquire about his health. Further investigation is underway.
