WASA installs hand sanitizer booths at educational institutions

Rawalpindi-The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) is installing hand-washing stations and disinfectant-spraying booths in government-run universities, colleges and schools across the city to try to curb an accelerating spread of coronavirus infections among students.
“The WASA has manufactured the hand-washing and spraying booths with help of United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) as per standard of World Health Organisation (WHO),” said Vice Chairman WASA Haroon Kamal Hashmi while addressing hand sanitizer installation ceremony at Government Gordon College here on Friday.
Prof Altaf Hussain, Principal of Gordon College, Deputy Managing Director (MD) WASA Muhammad Saleem Ashraf, college faculty and students were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman WASA Haroon Kamal Hashmi said that the students are precious asset of Pakistan and taking care of their health and health and hygiene is our prime responsibility. He said the installation of hand sanitizer booth would help the students from being affecting with coronavirus. He said the booth has 10 litre sanitizer storage capacity that could also be refilled and used for a month. He said this facility is being provided to all the educational institutions of the city. “WASA will refill such booths with liquid hand sanitizer that is being manufactured by experts of the civic body,” said Haroon Kamal Hashmi. He said our sanitizer has also been approved after testing by many laboratories. So far, WASA has installed hand sanitizer booths in Pir Mehar Ali Shah Arid Agricultural University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Government Postgraduate Asghar Mall College, Muslim Higher Secondary School, Saint Mary’s Higher Secondary School and many other educational institutions to keep the students safe from coronavirus pandemic.
Principal Government Gordon College Prof Altaf Hussain, speaking on the occasion, appreciated the step taken by WASA. He said the installation of hand sanitizer booth would effective against COVID-19.
