Our feudal lord

This is with reference to a column that appeared in your paper about Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. A number of things that aren't accurate in the column include the fact that Ayub Khan, and not Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, introduced the land reforms first. Secondly, Ayub's reforms were implemented on full scale to the limit of the law but Bhutto's were partial as he did not implement them upon himself and his circle of feudal friends and much of them were undone later anyway. By the way calling PPP a party of the people is okay but how do you explain Bhutto drinking French water and his daughter having a diamond necklace worth millions of dollars. As you said Bhutto was a feudal lord. Nobody in his right mind would give away a bicycle he owns. Why would he give his lands to the poor? -HAMZA CHEEMA, Lahore, via e-mail, January 6.
