On Wednesday, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) returned Rs 760 million to more than 3,000 victims of housing societies fraud.
Anti-graft watchdog Justice (r) Javed Iqbal visited Bureau’s Lahore office where he was given detailed briefing on the progress made in mega corruption cases by the Combined Investigation Teams (CIT) headed by Director General NAB Lahore. The anti-graft agency chairman distributed cheques worth Rs760 million among more than 3,000 victims of Model Housing Enclave and Ferozepura Housing Society.
Addressing the ceremony, he said that the Bureau has always ensured full implementation of the rule of law, adding that for the first time in history, a huge amount of Rs 2.5 billion was recovered from the accused under the Plea Bargaining Act in less than two years and distributed among thousands of victims.
Anti-graft agency was slandered but the national body continue to work on merit only keeping all kinds of bullying at bay, he added.
