Japan calls for unity with US, S Korea on N Korea

Japan said Friday it hoped to speak with one voice with the United States and South Korea on North Korea as hopes rose for a long-awaited nuclear declaration by the communist state. "On North Korea, what is important is for us to speak with one voice. We hope that we will continue to closely cooperate," Komura said at the start of the meeting. The three envoys also met late Thursday. The South Korean nuclear envoy, Kim Sook, said the talks by half the members of the six-way disarmament talks were "constructive." We are looking forward to making progress in achieving our ultimate goal of denuclearisation" of North Korea, Kim said.
