KARACHI
Hideaki Kuroki who headed the delegation of Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) said Pakistan has structural problems in power sector, the high power generation, high ratio of power transmission and distribution losses in efficient operation and inappropriate governance due to such problems Pakistan faces the gap between supply and demand.
A delegation of JICA held a meeting with office bearer of Association of Builders & Developers (ABAD) on energy conservation in Pakistan.
The delegate consists of Hideaki Kuroki and Satoshi Kohno along with Choudry Muhammad Ilyas Interpreter. Chairman ABAD Junaid Ashraf Taloo, Chairman Southern Region Muhammad Hassan Bakshi and Muhammad Hanif Memon (Vice Chairman) along with other senior members attended the meeting.
Junaid Ashraf Taloo Chairman ABAD informed the delegate about shortage of power in the country and governments efforts to overcome the crisis as soon as possible. He also highlighted to the delegate about construction industry.
Muhammad Hassan Bakshi – Chairman Southern Region in a question asked by JICA delegate said that there is no survey of buildings in Pakistan. Hence it is not possible to speculate numbers of buildings constructed till date.
Muhammad Hanif Vice Chairman said that there is no lighting and ventilation problems due to moderate climate in Karachi, buildings are constructed keeping in view the weather condition of Karachi city. Muhammad Hassan Bakshi Chairman Southern Region informed the delegate that construction in Pakistan is $22 per Sq. ft. in comparison to India and UAE where it is $45 and $65 respectively. The delegate also visited some under construction projects.
