PARC to assist CDA in keeping honey bees

Islamabad - Capital Development Authority (CDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) to keep the honey bees and produce the branded honey of Margalla Hills with mutual cooperation.  
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), PARC would provide technical cooperation to CDA for managing the honeybee colonies for production of branded honey from Margalla Hills. The PARC would help CDA in harvesting, extraction, quality testing, packing and labelling of honey. Branded honey of Margalla will be offered in the market through PARC-Agro Tech Company. The PARC will also provide assistance in capacity building of Margalla Community in beekeeping as well as demonstration apiary at Margalla Hills for community to raise the awareness of beekeeping for quality honey production, free pollination services of bees to enhance the quality and quantity of fruits, vegetables and biodiversity conservation.
While under the MoU, CDA will provide the space for placement of honeybee colonies of Acacia (phauli) Granda, Bhaikar etc at Margalla Hills and help in conservation and promotion of bee flora for honey production, including different species of flowers like Acacia, Granda, Bhaikar and other fruit plants.  
Secretary of PARC and Member Administration and Estate CDA Amer Ali Ahmed signed the Memorandum of Understanding. On this occasion senior officers of Environment Wing, CDA and experts from PARC were also present.
Appreciating the efforts of PARC experts, Member Administration and Estate CDA, Amer Ali Ahmed said that PARC is working with CDA on different projects including purification of stream water that would be extended to other department of CDA to make Islamabad environment friendly. Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that CDA is planting Olive saplings on Kashmir Highway, adding that PARC has fully cooperated in this project.
He said that CDA is taking all out measures for preservation and conservation wildlife and rich biodiversity of Margalla Hills National Park. He said that CDA is paying heed to further highlight the green character and enhance the green cover, which would not only beneficial for Margalla Hills but it would boost the natural environment of the Federal Capital.
Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed said that honey is the delicious gift of nature, which prevents us from different diseases, adding that honey beekeeping human beneficial projects.
On this occasion experts from PARC, briefed the participants in detail about the honey beekeeping project.
