ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the federal government would extend its complete support to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in its efforts to strengthen security and accelerate the process of development of the province. The Prime Minister was talking to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti and Ministers of his cabinet at the Prime Ministers House here on Wednesday. The Prime Minister said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA have made great sacrifices for peace and faced the challenge of militancy and extremism in a brave manner. The federal government and people of Pakistan would always stand by them to supplement their efforts. The Prime Minister agreed to personally disburse the first tranche of compensation money among the affected population of Malakand and Swat whose houses have been destroyed by the militants. He also assured the delegation of timely release of funds for the projects already announced for various areas of the province. Earlier, Hoti appreciated the Prime Minister for the recent release of funds for various schemes as well as for IDPs. The delegation drew the attention of the Prime Minister to the establishment of universities, medical colleges, cadet colleges, uplift canals, small dams, and NHA projects requiring appropriate funding in the forthcoming budget.
