Vehari - Deputy Commissioner Vehari Imrana Touqeer has stated that under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, price control magistrates are actively working to ensure availability of essential commodities at government-approved rates.
During the current month, over 339,000 inspections were carried out, resulting in fines totaling Rs. 389,000 on 97 violations, alongside one FIR registration and one arrest. The Deputy Commissioner directed magistrates to further increase inspections and emphasized that no overcharging by shopkeepers will be tolerated. She reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against violators to guarantee fair pricing and protect consumers.In a related development, a review meeting regarding the Smart Safe City Project was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Muzaffar Khan. A detailed briefing was given on the installation of 46 modern surveillance cameras throughout the city. These cameras will be monitored through control rooms at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and District Police Office to enhance public safety. They will also play a key role in overseeing major religious and national events such as Muharram, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, and Christmas, as well as in crime prevention. Surveillance will cover all district entry and exit points to maintain secure records of traffic movement. The meeting was attended by officials from various departments working collaboratively on the project.
