Safeguarding the youth from drugs our prime responsibility: CCPO

Lahore  -  The mission for a drug-free Lahore was continued under the supervision of Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana. In the ongoing operations against drug dealers this year, Lahore Police have arrested 4,704 suspects and registered 4,607 cases. This was stated in a statement issued by the spokesman Lahore Police today. The spokesman added that the police recovered a significant quantity of narcotics from the arrested individuals, including 2,660 kilograms of cannabis, 338 kilograms of Ice (crystal meth), 215 kilograms of opium, 207 kilograms of heroin and more than 26,000 litres of liquor. Meanwhile, CCPO Lahore has directed to continue the crackdown. “Protecting our youth from drugs, especially Ice, was our foremost responsibility,” maintained Mr Kamyana. He directed that regular search and combing operations be conducted around educational institutions to catch the drug sellers.

The CCPO stressed the importance of ensuring information sharing and close coordination with the line depts. The CCPO  also directed targeted operations against online supply of modern drugs to the youth. Furthermore, he urged concerned officers to expedite drug-related prosecutions in collaboration with the Prosecution Department. He also underscored the critical role of parents, teachers, civil society and media in raising awareness against drug abuse.
