Scheffler record dominant PGA Championship victory for third major title

Scottie Scheffler celebrates his PGA Championship triumph, holding the coveted trophy aloft.

CHARLOTTE  -  Scottie Scheffler cemented his status as the world’s top golfer with a commanding five-stroke victory at the PGA Championship on Sunday, securing his third career major title at Quail Hollow Club.

Starting the final round with a three-shot lead, Scheffler encountered early trouble off the tee, allowing Spain’s Jon Rahm to mount a brief back-nine challenge. But the composed American regrouped in time, sinking critical birdies on holes 14 and 15 to reassert his dominance as Rahm faltered down the stretch. “Finishing off a major is always tough,” Scheffler said. “I didn’t have my best stuff today, but I stayed patient and played a strong back nine.”

Scheffler carded an even-par 71 to finish 11-under for the tournament. His five-shot margin marked the largest PGA Championship win since Rory McIlroy’s eight-shot triumph in 2012. Rahm, a two-time major winner, had drawn level with Scheffler after birdieing three of four holes through the 11th. But his momentum unraveled with five dropped shots in his final three holes, including a double-bogey on the 17th after finding water off the tee. He finished tied for eighth.

American Harris English posted the day’s low round with a 65 to share second place with compatriots Bryson DeChambeau (70) and Davis Riley (72). DeChambeau impressed off the tee but couldn’t capitalize on the greens, while Riley faded late after an early push.

Sweden’s Alex Noren remained in contention before slipping with three bogeys early on the back nine. Meanwhile, McIlroy, a pre-tournament favorite, struggled throughout and closed with a 72, finishing tied for 47th.

Scheffler’s latest triumph adds another chapter to a spectacular season and reinforces his grip atop the world rankings. With three major titles to his name and unshakable mental strength under pressure, the 27-year-old continues to shape a legacy among golf’s elite.
