Release Asiya or face protests’ DeM warns govt

SRINAGAR: Dukhtaran-e-Millat has strongly protested the ‘releasing and arresting drama’ of its incarcerated chairperson Asiya Andrabi, terming it highly condemnable.

Addressing media men in Press Enclave Srinagar, General Secretary DeM, Nahida Nasreen said that they fail to understand on what charges the PDP led government has been arresting Andrabi after every alternate day. “This is harassment and nothing else. When we seek answers from the authorities about the reasons of her arrest, they simply evade our query and do not respond,” she said.

She according to CNS said that PDP led government is harassing pro-freedom people, detaining them in jails and forcing them to leave JK. It slapped PSA on Asiya Andrabi for multiple times. The court quashed her detention orders under PSA and issued release orders in her favour but each time she was rearrested. Since August this year, the authorities started releasing and arresting drama and one day she is released, the next day’s put into jail.

Nahida Nasreen flayed the media and the people associated with human rights organizations for what it termed maintaining ‘criminal’ silence over the detention of Asiya Andrabi. “Indian media gives much hype when Aasiya unfurls a Pakistani flag but when she is harassed and intimidated, no media house bothers to open its mouth against the tyranny of the government,” she said. DeM threatened protest demonstrations if Asiya Andrabi was not released immediately.
