ISLAMABAD     -   The government Monday launched an immuniza­tion campaign against COVID-19 for children aged between five and eleven.

The campaign will continue till 24th of this month in Islamabad capital territory, Sindh and Punjab. Eight million children will be vaccinated during the campaign.

Addressing the launching ceremony in Islam­abad on Monday, Minister for National Health Ser­vices Abdul Qadir Patel urged the teachers and parents to ensure that all children falling in the age bracket of five to eleven years are vaccinated.

He said Pakistan effectively handled the COVID-19 but the pandemic is not yet over. The Minister stressed on the need to adopt preventive measures to control this pandemic. He expressed his grati­tude to the United States for supporting Pakistan in this regard. Addressing the event, US Ambassa­dor Donald Blome said we celebrate the next step in protecting all Pakistanis against this devastat­ing disease by launching the pediatric vaccination campaign. He said our recent collaboration to pro­tect the children of Pakistan demonstrates the im­portance of our longstanding partnership to work together and overcome the global challenge
