Islamabad - Global System of Integrated Studies (GSIS) School & College celebrated its annual sports day here in main campus but weather and security issues did not allow the administration to have colorful event on the premises of Sports Complex.
During the cloudy weather in the last day of sports week, trophies were distributed among the students of A/O , FSC ,Matric and middle level students, where for the year 2014-15 Irfan Bashir and Abid Rahamdil and Shah Bano were nominated as the sports Icons for their outstanding performances.
Leading their four boys houses named as Dragons, Sharks, Lions and Eagles and two girls houses, Panthers and Jaguars, students participated in events like cricket, football, table tennis, rugby, handball and badminton, rally, and three legged races were also the part of exciting sports week. Talking about O/A levels Section Dragons stood first in points table scoring 54 points, Sharks remained second with 48 and Lions with 31 points in all matches and athletics.
, while Panthers house representing girls section clinched inter-house trophy with 80 points on score table.
Owais Hassan caption of Eagles of Boys Section (VI-FSC) scoring 57 points highest on points table received winning trophy, while Moid Kiyani caption of Lions received the runners-up trophy with overall 39 points.
Principal GSIS speaking on the occasion while congratulating the winners said, ” the GSIS support its students in every area whether its be sports or any other activity and most importantly without compromising their studies”. She admired the role played by sports coaches for their exceptional coaching of all levels students and heads of all sections for organizing the sports week in benefiting manner.
