NAB chairman appointed with N, PPP consent: Khursheed

SHIKARPUR - The name of current Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Qamar Zaman Chaudhry was finalised after the mutual coordination of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
The incumbent NAB chairman is discharging his duties in a better manner but the procedure of accountability body is not satisfactory, said Khursheed Ahmed Shah, opposition leader in the National Assembly. He said this during his visit to Dargah Mian Abdul Ghafoor Humayuni at Humayun Sharif, Shikarpur. Mr Shah said prime minister should avoid such circumstances to give harm to the stability of Pakistan.
Talking about the house listing and census, he said more than 3 million migrants were living in Sindh including Afghanis, Burmese and Bengalis therefore a district level committee should be formed to monitor the census and migrants should be separated from the census as this issue is very sensitive.
To a question about the law and order situation in Sindh, he said the law and order was now better than past and in this regard more necessary steps will be taken by the government to improve the security situation so that people of Sindh can live with peace and tranquility.
To another question about the bill of sermon during the Friday prayers, he said if the bill about the Friday sermon gets implemented than it is a better act. Some other Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia are implementing such laws and it can help avoid religious extremism. He said the cases of district president PPP Shikarpur and former MPA Mir Babal Bhayo and Dr Asim had different nature. To another question, he said, “I came here to meet Mr Mian Abdul Baqi because I have personal relations with him as well as to give support to PPP here.” PPP MPA Mir Abid Khan Bhayo, PPP leader Agha Masihuluddin, Sardar Akhtar Hussain Khoharo, Anis Pechoho and other notables of the district were also present on the occasion.
Online adds: Khursheed Shah urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take the parliament into confidence over the Pathankot incident.
Talking to mediamen in Sukkur on Saturday, he said India is levelling baseless allegations against Pakistan over Pathankot attack and the prime minister must bring real facts before the nation.
He said there should be strict action against the corrupt elements across the board and no one should get fumed over its actions. He stressed the need for making change in the procedure of NAB. “Elimination of corruption is vital for a prosperous society,” Khursheed added.
Talking about LNG agreement with Qatar, he said PML-N opposed the project after PPP-led government proposed it in 2008. “We are not against the project but the procedure being followed,” he added.
Khursheed Shah said the prices of the medicines are on the rise and urged the government to takes steps for bring down the prices.
