SHIKARPUR - A dacoit was killed in an alleged police encounter took place near Sher Badani Jatoi Village, in the limits of Napar-Kot Police Station, here on Tuesday.
Khanpur DSP Nazeer Ahmed Lashari told media that three villagers Abdul Ghaffor Chachar, Muhammad Rafique and Abdul Wahab were kidnapped on February 18.
He said police conducted a raid to release the above said kidnapped villagers, but armed dacoits opened fire on police. Police also retaliated in the same manner, resultantly, one dacoit was killed on the spot, later identified as Razzaq Badani Jatoi, 45, while his other accomplices managed to escape.
Police seized arms and bullets from his possession. The killed dacoit was wanted to police in several crimes which were registered against him at several police stations, the DSP added.
However, police failed to release the villagers.
Police shifted the body to taluka Headquarters Hospital Khanpur for autopsy and handed over to his heirs. No case was registered till filling of this story.
