LAHORE - Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab has announced protest movement from January 26 to press for the demand of implementation of service structure and payment of salaries to over 1000 PG trainees.
Addressing a press conference at Punjab Institute of Cardiology on Tuesday, YDA leaders Dr Amer Bandesha, Dr Ajmal Ch and Dr Tajjamal Butt and others also announced to field own panel in the elections of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan to be held on February 21. Dr Khurram Shahzad, Dr Saud, Dr Farhan Saqib and Dr Atif Chaudhry were also present.
YDA leaders said that the protest movement was postponed due to the terrorist attack on Army Public School a month back. They said that the government has not bothered to approach the YDA regarding fulfillment of promises made over two and a half year back. They said that the movement would be launched with a rally at Mayo Hospital on January 26. They said that the protest would continue as per the decided schedule across the province till the acceptance of all legitimate demands. They said that the YDA would have no other option except closure of all hospitals in the province as the last resort to get due rights. They demanded the government to affiliate Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Medical College with the University of Health Sciences to resolve the problems of students. They said that the YDA would field own panel as both the contesting panels have failed to resolve the problems of CPSP. They said that the present council was wasting CPSP resources in foreign tours and not for the betterment of the prestigious institution.
They said that there was need of replacing the present council and change in the election system for giving opportunity to new faces.
