ISLAMABAD  - The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended on June 19, for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, has registered increase of 0.56pc over the previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 204.00 as against 202.87 registered in the previous week, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. The SPI for the combined group registered increase of 0.76pc by rising from 193.31 in the previous week to 194.78 in the week under review. As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed increase of 26.79 per cent. The SPI for the groups falling in the income brackets of 3001-5000, 5001-12000 and above 12000 witnessed increase of 0.61, 0.73 and 0.80 respectively over the previous week. During the week under review average prices of 11 items registered decrease, while that of 23 items increased with the remaining 19 items' prices unchanged. The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included, garlic, onions, rice basmati (broken), moong pulse (washed), sugar,wheat (average quality), rice irri-6, gram pulse (washed), red chillies,  mustard oil and gur The items which registered increase in their prices included, tomatoes, chicken (farm) potatoes, tea (packet), egg hen (farm), vegetable ghee (tin), LPG(11 kg cylender), kerosene, bananas, cooking oil (tin), milk powdered (Nido), salt (powdered), cigarettes k-2, masoor pulse (washed), bread plain (mid size), firewood, bath soap (Lifebouy), curd, washing soap (Nylon), milk (fresh), wheat flour (average quality), vegetable ghee (loose), mash pulse (washed). The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included, beef, mutton, tea (prepared), cooked beef plate, cooked dal plate, coarse latha, lawn, voil (printed), shirting sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal spng. (Bata), electricity bulb (60wats), match box, gas charges (up to 3.3719 MMBTU), electricity charges (1-100), petrol, diesel and telephone local call.
