QUETTA - The fiscal budget of Balochistan for year 2008-09 will be announced on Saturday (today). The total outlay of the budget would be Rs 70 billion with a deficit of around Rs 7 billion. Minister for Finance Mir Hasim Kurd Gialoo would present the budget. The meeting of cabinet would be held at 12:00 pm in which approval of new budget would be given. The outlay of development budget of province would be Rs 12 billions. The province would have to bear an additional burden of Rs 4 billion due to 20 percent increase in the salaries of employees. Official sources said health, education and water sectors have been given top priority in new budget. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Aslam Raisani has said that the government is making a conducive atmosphere for investors in the province and all possible security would be provided to them. He expressed these views while talking to a group of foreign ambassadors who called on him here on Friday. Ambassadress were belonging to Korea, Switzerland, Malaysia, Austria and Germany, who are on the visit of Balochistan. The Chief Minister while welcoming the ambassadors said that Balochistan was rich with natural resources. He said that Gwadar deepsea port had attained a great importance as it was the gate way of Central Asia. He informed that first phase of Gwadar port had been completed and work on the second phase was continued. He said that foreigner investors would be given all possible facilities and security so that they could invest their capital in a conducive atmosphere. Federal Secretary for industries and production Shahab Khowaja, Chief Secretary Balochistan Nasir Mehmood Khosa, Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Balochistan and secretaries of other departments were also present on this occasion. 2008-09 and supplementary budget 2007-08. The debate and discussions on the budget will be held from Tuesday (June 24) to Saturday (June 28).
