Mehdi Kazmi took a stance in his petition that he got married 17 years ago and his daughter Dua Zehra is 14 years of age, while the medical test conducted on the orders of SHC stated that his daughter’s age is between 16-17 years.
Mehdi Kazmi’s petition further said that the SHC in it’s decision has completely ignored the birth certificate, school certificate and NADRA record of Dua Zehra. He mentioned that the verdict given by the SHC is faulty or inaccurate.
The position taken in the appeal stated that marriage of a girl under 18 years of age is not permissible, then how can marriage of 14 years of age Dua Zehra be declared valid?
Mehdi Kazmi appealed to the Supreme Court to quash the decision of SHC and also order to hand over Dua Zehra to her parents and action should be taken against her abductors.
