Kyrgyz Republic wants to develop economic coop with Pakistan

SIALKOT (APP) - Kyrgyz Republic Ambassador to Pakistan Bektur Asanov has said Kyrgyz Republic is making efforts for developing economic cooperation with Pakistan on top priority basis. Addressing the members of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here Tuesday, he said that Kyrgyz and Pakistan have inked eight agreements in the area of economic cooperation which would provide base for making business and protection of investment in Kyrgyz Republic. It is high time that Kyrgyz and Pakistan should utilize the advantage of being the members of World Trade Organization (WTO) in booting the trade volume between the two countries, he said. The Ambassador on this occasion informed the house that they are planning to organize an exhibition of Pakistani products by the end of November 2009 in Bishkek. He stressed upon the business community of Sialkot to participate in the exhibition which would certainly help in exploring the market of Kyrgyz Republic. He also called upon the business community of Pakistan to extend full support and assistance to Kyrgyz businessmen enabling them to open their business in Pakistan. Kyrgyz Republic, he said, had a stable political climate and government understands that foreign private participation and investment were essential for accelerating development and to stimulate the economy. He said the public and private sectors have joined forces to attract the investors adding that those investors who were looking to maximize profit and minimize risk were the main reasons to invest in Kyrgyz Republic. The main factors were the liberal trade regime, full protection of investments and unlimited repatriation of profit. Currency exchange freedom, low business costs an educated workforce and direct access to state authorities, he added. The Ambassador further said that we are Kyrgyz-Pakistani Business Council and it is expected the business delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) would visit Kyrgyz shortly. In his address of welcome President SCCI Muhammad Ishaq Butt said there was a tremendous scope of trade in textile, leather, sports goods and surgical instruments between Pakistan Kyrgyz Republic. He said there was also a great need of promotion of bilateral trade between the two countries. Ishaq Butt pointed out that exchange of trade delegations and one-to-one meeting of businessmen of both the sides were crucial for improving bilateral trade for which both sides must ensure simple visa policy to ensure getting visas easily and meet each other as and when required. Later the Ambassador visited different industrial units of Sialkot.
