Emaar announces appointment of CEOs
KARACHI (PR): Emaar recently announced the appointment of two CEOs for Pakistan. Khurram Noor has been appointed as CEO of Emaar DHA Islamabad Limited (EDIL) while Faran Umar has been appointed as CEO of Emaar Giga Karachi Limited (EGKL). Both the appointees possess a diversified experience in the related fields.
Khurram Noor joined EDIL in January 2013 as a shareholders’ representative. He brings with himself diversified experience in project development & financing, investment management, Faran Umar joined EGKL in January 2013 as a shareholders’ representative and brought with himself an experience of more than 20 years in operations, finance and treasury, risk management, cost control and systems development.
He has has served in different sectors including real-estate development, financial institution and corporate consultancy.

Gillette organises a thrilling RC racing challenge

PWC lauds govt for upgrading pay scales
LAHORE (PR): PEPCO has issued order for upgradating of pay scales of the incumbents having three years diploma from BPS 11/12 to BPS-14/15/16 of the Line Superintendents Gr.I & II, Foremen, Line Foremen Meter Supervisors Gr-I, Operator Grade-I & ii, Test Inspector, Lab. / Test Assistants etc working in the DISCOs, GENCOs & NTDC by accepting the demand of All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union. Trade union leader Khurshid Ahmad alongwith Malik Noor, M/s. Osama Tariq, Akbar Saeed Butt, Shahid Raza, Khawaja Abdul Waheed, Syed Zulqarnain Shah, Rana Abdul Shakoor, Ch. Maqsood Ahmad, Sajid Kazmi, Rana, Muhammad Akram, Syed Zakir All Shah and other representatives of the union have congratulated all the incumbents having 3 years diploma.

Telenor supports Digital Punjab Conference
LAHORE (PR): In line with its vision to help empower digital generation in the country, Telenor Pakistan is sponsoring Digital Punjab Conference being organised by the LCCI on August 24 at Expo Center Punjab. The conference is part of The Lahore Shopping Festival-2013, which is an annual event of LCCI aimed at expediting economic and commercial activities. The conference will highlight the role cellular technology can play in paving the way for ICT services subsequently helping the government in bridging the digital divide.
The second session of the conference will be based on career counseling seminar and discuss best practices in the human resource development and management industry.

Rootsians exhibit patriotism
ISLAMABAD (PR): Roots International Schools celebrated Independence Day in collaboration with CDA at Pak-China Friendship Centre under the banner of ‘Azadi Festival’. Azadi Festival was held seeing that Independence Day of Pakistan is observed throughout Pakistan in August every year with immense patriotism, delight and reverence for Motherland Pakistan.
With their high spirits Rootsians exhibited their talents capably and enthusiastically at Azadi Festival. Fatima Kazmi student of 7th grade at Roots International Schools hosted the commemoration. The ceremony started by the recitation of verses from Holy Quran.  Recitation was followed by greetings to the attendees along with views regarding the importance of independence.
Followed by the welcome note the house was open for Singing Competition, whereby students sang different national songs, which filled the air with melody. Here, gifted Rootsian Nicole Maleeha-student of IGCSE-II proved her talent and secured 3rd position.

UET seminar on dengue
LAHORE (PR): The UET organised a seminar  wherein Prof Dr AR Saleemi delivered a lecture to the students, teachers and employees on anti-dengue measures.
VC Lt Gen (r) Akram Khan chaired the seminar. A large number of students, teachers and employees attended the seminar. Pamphlets regarding information on and prevention from dengue were also distributed among the participants.
