PTI remains the only national party: Hasaan Khawar

Lahore - Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) on Information and Punjab government’s spokesman Hasaan Khawar has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is committed to establishing independent and sovereign institutions, beyond the question of victory and defeat.

Talking to media at a seminar on promotion of tourism here yesterday, he said: “Unlike the toothless local government system of Sindh, we are going to enact an empowered local bodies system in Punjab.” Hasaan Khawar also said that PTI was the only national party with representation in all the provinces.

“On the other hand, PML-N has been eliminated from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh, and PPP from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) is nowhere to be found in the whole country. Such a fragmented and divided opposition is a blessing in disguise for the government,” he pointed out.

He said that in the absence of a comprehensive party narrative, the corruption-ridden opposition leaders were hiding behind political rhetoric.

He added as per the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, work was being done to bring the neglected tourist attractions, especially those in South Punjab, back on the tourism radar through TDCP.

He said that day tours of the landmark Kartarpur project would be organised in collaboration with the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) which would promote tourism in the area.

He stated: “Our commitment is to complete all the tourism related projects as soon as possible. We are also committed to ensuring investments in the tourism sector.”
