Transparency to be ensured in DIFD edu programme: CM


PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said Sunday that the government took revolutionary steps for promotion of education keeping in view its paramount importance.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting of the UK Department for International Development (DFID) led by Michael Barbor and KP Minister for Education, Sardar Hussain Babak here on Sunday. The meeting extensively deliberated on DFID assistance plan for education sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reviewed progress on its last meeting and took important decisions.
Lauding the DFID assistance plan for promoting education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the chief minister underlined the need for transparency and monitoring in use of resources. He directed for convening analysis meetings for education performance appraisal to set targets regarding primary to higher education in all districts of the province. He said officials showing good results in education sector would be encouraged.
Terming continuity of special efforts and programmes for promotion of education inevitable, the chief minister told the meeting that transfers and postings of teachers in the province were being held in holidays so that time of teachers and students could not get wasted.
The meeting was told that a comprehensive programme for teachers training was being compiled for capacity building of teachers. Appreciating the support and assistance of DFIP, the chief minister said it would bring positive results in education sector of the province. He held out assurance that merit policy in implementation of DFID programme will be upheld.
