The phrase, ‘power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely’ holds true for Pakistan, because we know that power does corrupt and that we cannot trust a king to be kind to his people, though history has some excellent examples of the most horrible of despots. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has become the uncrowned king of Pakistan, as claimed by many leaders. All the leaders are of the opinion that the Prime Minister sees himself as a monarch and an autocrat. History reminds us that Pakistan has been infested by dictators and autocrats. There seems to be no rule of law within the country; it runs like a rudderless ship in turbulent waters. Moreover, democracy seems to act on the phrase ‘might is right’. Democracy has replaced monarchy, and now the two brothers, acting as monarchs, have only caused troubles for the people of Pakistan. I have not seen any democratic actions in Pakistan, so where is democracy?
