LAHORE - PTI high command has given no targets to its central Punjab leadership to amass sizeable participants for its accountability rally from Gujranwala to Lahore, party leaders told The Nation yesterday.

Party leaders who took part in a meeting under the chair of secretary general Jahangir Tareen to review the arrangements of September 3 ‘Ehtesab Rally’, said that no targets have been given to party parliamentarians and former ticket-holders belonging to central Punjab as the party’s top leadership accepts its grass root weaknesses because of no elected party organisation.

The MNAs, MPAs and former ticket-holders belonging to central Punjab have been directed to gather as much as the party workers they could without fixing targets, the PTI leaders added.

Imran Khan launched Ehtesab rally from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa on August 7. However the main show which matters is expressing the party’s strength in the Punjab capital city, believed to be the citadel of the ruling PML-N.

Jahangir Tareen, addressing the party workers after the meeting, claimed that the Sept 3 rally would be a mammoth show of power. The ruling party must decide the fate of TORs on Panama Leaks or be ready to go home, he held.

“A strategy has been devised to assemble millions of activists on September 3. PTI’s presence would be visible from Gujranwala to Lahore. Imran’s party would conquer those parts of Punjab claimed by the ruling party including Lahore,” he further claimed.
