Islamabad - The federal government has removed the Chairman Capital Development Authority Maroof Afzal yesterday and appointed him as additional secretary of the Establishment Division.

The government has given the additional charge of chairman CDA to Federal Secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Hassan Iqbal.  The Establishment Division has issued the notifications in this regard last night. Sources in CDA told The Nation that basic reason of the removal of Maroof was his dispute of power sharing with the recently elected Mayor Shiekh Ansar Aziz. The differences between Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad and Capital Development Authority came to light a few weeks ago when Shiekh Ansar inaugurated the renovation work on IJP Road but the CDA claimed that it had awarded the contract to the construction company and that was why chairman CDA reserved the right to inaugurate the project. The sources said the previous government appointed 32 officers in grade 16 to 18 in CDA directly and the services of almost 15 such officers have been regularised. The remaining officers are pressuring the chairman CDA through different cabinet members to regularise their services but the chairman was reluctant to accommodate them. On the other hand, Public Accounts Committee is also investigating the land lease agreement of under-construction of Grand Hyatt Hotel near Jinnah Convention Centre.
