Dollar down in interbank, up in open market


KARACHI - The dollar depreciated its strength against the rupee in the interbank market on Thursday, dealers said.
It initiated the day’s trading at Rs 90 for buying, decreased 34 paisas and closed at Rs 89.66 for buying and Rs 89.71 for selling. The Euro recorded falling behaviour in its value against the local currency as it started the day’s trading at Rs 118.31 for buying, fell 83 paisas and closed at Rs 117.48 for buying and Rs 117.68 for selling. Pound Sterling witnessed depreciated value against the local currency. It began the day’s trading at Rs 141.67 for buying, went 79 paisas down and closed at Rs 140.88 for buying and Rs 141.08 for selling.
In the open market, the dollar gained strength against the rupee, dealers said. It began the day’s trading at Rs 89 for buying, gained 80 paisas and closed at Rs 89.8 for buying and Rs 90.3 for selling. The European currency witnessed loss against the rupee as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 117.3, fell 30 paisas and closed at Rs 117 for buying and Rs 119.3 for selling. The British Pound recorded depreciation in its strength against local currency. It started the day’s trading at Rs 140.3 for buying, lost ten paisas and closed at Rs 140.2 for buying and Rs 141.6 for selling.
