ISLAMABAD (APP) - Federal Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour Wednesday warned that the train service could be terminated in Punjab if more attacks continued. Holding Punjab government, Wapda and Interior Ministry responsible for the chaos, Bilour said they should pay damages to the Pakistan Railways for the destruction to the equipment of the trains. The minister said after consulting Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani over the subject, the train service could be stopped in Punjab if the attacks would carry on. Attacks on the trains in Punjab is a conspiracy against the Punjab government, the Minister said this while talking to the state run agency, after conducting a surprise visit at Carriage Factory and Rawalpindi Railway Station. The Minister said the elements who damaged governments property were enemies of the country and would be dealt with iron hands. Opposing to the notion of privatisation of Pakistan Railways, the Minister asked Wapda to look into the matter and fix those who were responsible for continued loadshedding across country. He also asked Punjab government to sort-out those elements involved in the riots and attacks on trains. It is a common responsibility of the provincial government and Interior Ministry to maintain law and order situation in the country to tackle these types of untoward incidents in future, he opined. Bilour said except India, the Railways department was going into deficit across the world. We are trying our level best to improve Pakistan Railways. I salute my engineers who are making such old locomotives run on these old tracks, he added. The Minister inspected all the departments of the Carriage Factory and asked the workers about their problems. He announced financial package of Rs 2,000 each to all the employees of the Carriage Factory for their good performance. Later, the Minister also visited Rawalpindi Railway Station and asked the passengers about facilities provided by the department.
