Kamal visits Old City areas

KARACHI - City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has said that the old City areas including Tower, Cloth Market, Kharadar and Methadar would soon get rid of the accumulation of rainwater during monsoon. City government has worked out the permanent solution for drainage of storm water through a proper system in these densely populated areas. Talking to mediamen after inspection of sewerage works in old City areas on late Tuesday night, he said that the City government had however installed a new and latest storm water drainage system in many areas of Karachi which proved quite helpful in draining out rain water. During his visit, City nazim noted that the sewerage infrastructure in these areas was too old and therefore in past it could not hold water even after light rains. Kamal said that they had not installed such latest system, therefore the citizens of Karachi would have to face worst condition after recent torrential rains and even getting out of the homes would have been impossible for citizens. The same system had drained out all accumulated water in the City in only 48 hours. To a question, he said that the critics who were giving statements while sitting in their drawing rooms just did not acknowledged the fact that the same existing system had cleared all storm water within few hours after rains. He said that development in Karachi means progress of Pakistan and this process must not be halted but continued in future. Karachi provides livelihood to labours from all over the country.
