ISLAMABAD (Online) - Former chief of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Brig (r) Imtiaz Ahmad has said that the United States created Taliban in order to occupy the Asian region. Hamid Karzai was the trogon horse of the US and he would not have worked long if had he been brought in the beginning, he told BBC in an interview here on Wednesday after remaining silent for 19 years since his retirement. Terming former president Pervez Musharraf as the most dangerous man, he said that he (Musharraf) not only destroyed institutions of the country but also put the solidarity of the country at stake. US wants to end Pakistans importance in the region by making India regional power and occupying Afghanistan completely, he observed. He added that Pakistan badly needs strong leadership. According to him, the present interior minister Rehman Malik and former interior minister Naseer Ullah Babar had gone to Afghanistan on US directives to launch Islamic movement there. To a question, Imtiaz said Naseer Ullah Babar was being considered as the creator of Taliban but he made it clear that the present and the former interior ministers had used Afghanistan during the presence of democratic government on US directives. The seventy-year old Brigadier said the United States wanted to declare Taliban ineligible. In reply to a question whether the intelligence agencies have the ability to foil US plans, he said former president Pervez Musharraf destroyed all the institutions and according to him the intelligence agencies have become handicapped and are unable to foil conspiracies against Pakistan.
