Roadmap for BS (Hons) programme in 26 colleges

LAHORE - The Punjab Higher Education Department has released the roadmap for starting BS (Hons) four years programme in various subjects of Science & Arts in 26 autonomous colleges in the province. The preparations for the academic launching will start from June 29 and will be completed before September 20 and the classes will start from October 1. According to the roadmap, liaison with universities by the Principals to which the colleges are affiliated for selection of subjects, PC-I for labs, libraries, registration, examination fee, quality assurance measures and training strategy has since been finalised while academic planning including completion of affiliation process, budget making, time table and admission policy has to be finalised before July 31st. Similarly rehabilitation of labs, libraries and approval of budget for them by the government to be completed before Sept 15. The Principals, Vice Chancellors concerned and Master trainers will evolve training of teachers and staff in the new programme by August 31st. The government will complete the process of drafting of rules including nomination of Board of Governors (BOGs), service rules and budget rules by August 15. The government in consultation with the principals will form administrative committee, create new posts and approve the budget in August. The final process of admissions, publication of prospects, entry test, result and display of first merit list by the principals in consultation with the VCs will be carried out from Sept 4 to 20. All these preparations are underway under the supervision of Secretary Higher Education Punjab Ahad Khan Cheema with the assistance of Additional Secretary (P&G) Yawar Hussain and Additional Secretary (Academic) Mohammad Akram Chaudhry and their staff. The constitution of Board of Governors is swiftly continuing and the government has since announced the names of BOGs in a number of colleges. The BOGs of Islamia College Civil Lines and Government Degree College for Women, Samanabad have been announced. Meanwhile, the Higher Education Department has attached the Islamia College for Girls Cooper Road to Lahore College for Women University for affiliation purposes in place of Punjab University. The respective colleges have also sent affiliation documents to respective universities for affiliation in BS (Hons) programmes in different subjects.
