Zardari briefed on illegal occupation of Katcha land

LARKANA - President Asif Zardari on Tuesday presided over a high-level meeting regarding illegal occupation of forest and irrigation land by influential people in Sindh here at Presidents House in Naudero. The President was briefed about the Katcha Area land, its illegal occupation and informed of the details of influential persons who had occupied the land. Elected representatives from Khairpur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu and other parts of the province gave an in-depth account of their respective areas to the President. Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman briefed the President on the distribution of land among landless women farmers and removal of illegal occupation from the forest land, particularly in Larkana, Khairpur and Dadu districts. Zardari directed the authorities concerned and PPP leaders to follow the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in the distribution of land among the poor women farmers. He directed that it was the responsibility of the elected representatives to extend help to the government to maintain peace in Sindh. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Sindh Local Bodies Minister Agha Siraj Durrani, senior member Board of Revenue Ghulam Ali Pasha, NHA officials and others also attended the meeting.
