QUETTA: Construction of Mass transit train and Green bus projects shall soon be initiated in Quetta. Both projects are an attempt to provide relief to the citizens with regard to transportation.

Rs 2 billion were allotted for the Mass transit train project whereas Rs 1 billion were reserved for the Green bus project in the fiscal budget of the province for the year 2016-17.

Almost 3 million people residing in Quetta and adjoining areas are expected to be benefitted from the transportation projects. Railways Divisional Superintendent (DS) stated that the initiation of the project was a gift from the provincial government towards the people.

The project shall be one of its kind in South Asia as it shall be the first ever state-of-the-art Mass transit train project. The air-conditioned Green buses will be operating on the various routes of the city. The projects shall be helpful in reducing pollution in the city and will facilitate the inhabitants in their daily commutes.

Both the projects shall add to the beautification of the provincial capital, the sources said.
