ATC sends 3 kidnappers  behind bars for life

RAWALPINDI   -   An anti-terrorism court on Monday awarded life imprisonment to three persons accused of kidnapping a 37-year-old man for ransom. Asad Abbas, Hammad Khitab and Shaharyar, the accused, were found guilty of kidnapping Khayam Raza and demanding hefty ransom from family within the limits of Police Station (PS) Sadiqabad in July 2019.

Police registered a case against kidnappers and held them. ATC Number 1 Special Judge Shaukat Kamal Dar ruled that the prosecution had proved its case against the accused beyond the shadow of doubt and that the accused had kidnapped the man in order to receive ransom from his family. The judge handed down life imprisonment to the three accused for killing the man and ordered them to pay Rs 1,000,000 compensation each to the legal heirs of victim.

Meanwhile, CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas has lauded the verdict of court. He said the investigation wing of Rawalpindi police, under command of SSP Investigation Muhammad Faisal Kamran, is doing excellent job by producing ample proves before courts to get the criminals punished.
