Bilawal Bhutto briefed over ‘new, empowered’ local bodies system in Sindh

KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday received briefing on the new local bodies system to be introduced in the province ahead of the possible elections at the grass root level in the early months of the next year.  While chairing a meeting attended by provincial Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and others ministers as the Bilawal House, the PPP chairman was briefed that a new local bodies system is being prepared which would further strengthen the role of representatives from the grass-root level. “This system will help in strengthening the local bodies system in the province,” the briefing said as Bilawal Bhutto said that role of local bodies representatives was inevitable in providing immediate relief to the public at the grass root level.  The briefing came days after the Election Commission of Pakistan has directed the provincial government to finalize its delimitation process including any legislations so that the election body could move towards holding the local bodies elections in the province.
