Election Commission of Pakistan decides to amend electoral laws

ISLAMABAD- The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to amend the electoral laws of the country. The ECP has sent the draft of the amendments to the Electoral Reforms Committee.

According to our reports, the president will no longer be eligible to announce the election date. Also, the election date will be announced with ECP’s consultation.

Returning officers will work under the Election Commission of Pakistan. The polling scheme will not be changed one month prior to the election while an increase has also been recommended in election expenses.

The draft also includes an increase in the number of days allotted for the scurrility of candidates from 7 to 15 days.
