Rawalpindi-City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas paid a surprise visit to police stations Westridge, Banni, Waris Khan and Sadiqabad, informed a police spokesman on Wednesday.

“CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas visited police stations following the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan,” he added.

 Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Capt (R) Rai Mazhar and divisional SPs Zia Uddin Ahmed Khan (SP Rawal) and Tassawar Abbas (SP Potohar) were also with the CPO during the visit, he said.

The city police chief checked the daily entry register of the police stations and directed the SHOs to accelerate efforts for the arrest of maximum criminals including proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

He said effective strategy was vital to controlling crime and also ordered to adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.

On this occasion, CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas asked the police officers to focus on solving public complaints promptly by taking citizen-friendly steps. He advised the police officers to be polite with complainants. The CPO also urged the cops to respect their senior officers.

Later, the CPO also inspected the front desks, buildings, lockups, mess and other cleanliness of the police stations. CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas said all the senior officers should pay a visit to police stations following the instructions of IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan to check the cleanliness and other facilities.

Separately, Naseerabad police has arrested a front man of owner of an illegal housing society for allegedly offering bribe to Station House Officer (SHO), said a police spokesman.

“The front man namely Wajid Mehmood wanted SHO PS Naseerabad SI Muhammad Raffique to go easy on his boss Sarfraz Sial Malik, the owner of illegal Life Residentia Housing Society at Mohri Khattar,” he said.

A case under section 162 of Pakistan Penal Code has also been registered against the accused while further investigation was on, he added.
