HYDERABAD-The Managing Director of Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA) Preetam Das has said more than 600,000 cusecs water passed safely through Kotri barrage last week. Speaking at an event at SIDA’s office here on Thursday the MD thanked all the officers and staff for performing their duties with dedication during the flood situation.

“The day and night toil of the officers and staff of SIDA and Left Bank Canal Area Water Board ensured safe flow of flood through the barrage,” he observed. The SIDA’s General Manager Transition Ghulam Mustafa Ujjan observed that the monsoon rains and ensuing floods had caused unprecedented devastation in the province.

The General Manager Operation Jai Raam Bhatia and General Manager Finance Naeem Ahmed Memon said any negligence on part of the irrigation officials could have caused any damage. They said due to the barrage’s proximity with Hyderabad special measures were taken to ensure safe passage of the flood. On the occasion appreciation certificates were distributed among the officers and staff.
