FAISALABAD   -   City Police Officer (CPO) Omar Saeed Malik has removed 7 police officials from service on charge of poor perfor­mance, negligence and delinquency.

During an orderly meeting at Police Lines Complex here on Thursday, the CPO took action against delinquency, negligent and lethargic officials and dismissed 7 cops in addition to issu­ing charge-sheet to 6 others. Among those who were dismissed included constables Babar Sultan, Ata-ul-Mus­tafa, Niaz Ahmad, Muhammad Owais, Iftikhar Ahmad, Muhammad Parvaiz and Muhammad Bilal. Meanwhile, the CPO has also stopped promotion of Inspector Asim Khan for one-year on charge of his lethargic attitude, a spokesman of police department said.

46 CRIMINALS, 7 POS HELD

Police claimed on Thursday to have arrested 46 criminals and recovered drugs as well as illegal weapons from their possession in the district during the last 24 hours. According to police, raiding teams nabbed seven pro­claimed offenders (POs) and 10 drug pushers besides recovering 0.8-kg hashish, 200 grams ice and 178-litres liquor from them. In a crackdown against illegal weapons, police ar­rested 29 accused and recovered 25 pistols, two rifles, two kalashnikovs and a number of bullets from them.

10 SHOPKEEPERS BOOKED OVER DENGUE SOPS VIOLATION

The district health authority regis­tered cases against 10 shopkeepers over violation of the dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs), here on Thursday. District Programme Coordinator Dr Zulqarnain said that anti-dengue teams were active for surveillance of dengue larvae on daily basis and cases were being reg­istered against shopkeepers where dengue larvae was being detected
