SWAT - The Peshawar High Court (PHC), Mingora Bench, has sought comments from HEC chairperson Islamabad on the issue of alleged discriminatory policy of promotion of public sector university teachers.
The writ petition has been filed by various teachers of the University of Malakand, through their counsel. The writ petition has been admitted for further investigation as the Higher Education Commission has been blamed for discriminatory policies for re-reappointment that extremely violates the basic rights of promotion and even is contrary to the HEC Ordinance 2002.
According to the petition, the HEC has made various commitments with the teachers but is now using its delaying tactics to resolve the matter. The petition explained that this alleged discriminatory behaviour of HEC has raised various issues regarding seniority among the two groups of teachers and has badly affected the seniority of petitioners.
