Mumtaz opposes PPP candidate for president

Karachi (PPI) - Chairman, Sindh National Front (SNF) Mumtaz Ali Khan Bhutto Saturday said if PPP Co-Chaiman Asif Ali Zardari were made President of Pakistan it would be a tragedy for the whole nation. "Mr Zardari has made an agreement with General Pervez Musharraf against withdrawal of corruption cases against him (Zardari)," he said in a statement. He said the head of nation would be hanged in shame if the corrupt elements were elected to the office of presidency. SNF chief alleged that Zardari and his party have showed that they were not sincere to resolve serious problems facing the country. He charged that corrupt elements were still busy in looting national exchequer. "How could the elements without any ideology, principle, morality be elected as president." He feared that the country might face serious consequences if its reins were handed to such elements. He urged people of Pakistan, especially of Sindh province, to take to streets and foil the nefarious designs against them. Zardari has no right to use the name of Bhutto in his politics, he added. Mumtaz Bhutto held the United States responsible for the persisting instability in the country as the US wanted to install a Musharraf-like president after his resignation. "It is the history that the US always liked the rule of dictators in Pakistan", he concluded.
